Hi,

I need help. Basically I'm a new driver, bought a vw polo 1.4 litre 2001 reg 3 weeks ago. I never exceeded 50mph until last week when i was travelling to southened. I was driving at over 80 mph, I had no problem but on my way back i've noticed my car started to bounce, even the other passengers noticed it. It was bouncing really bad so i had to slow down to 50 mph. Any idea why this was happening?
my dad checked the tyre and he thought one of the tyres were a BIT soft and needed some air but when my brother checked it he thought it's not the tyre but it's something else.

He thinks theres probably something wrong with the engine cos everytime i start the car, this little "check" sign comes up and stays on. According to him this sign means something wrong with the engine but before buying this car i took it to a garage and asked a mechanic about this sign and he just said "oh ignore this sign its nothing" and i also asked my instructor who said it basically means check the engine collient level.

can anyone please tell me what could be wrong with my car? why does it bounce so bad? and did anyone come accross with the sign im talkin about, basically it has a little picture that looks like a camera and next to it says "check"

You have one or more defective suspension dampers or shock absorbers in other words.
The engine problem would not cause it to bounce. The check light and the "camera" could be anyone of a number of things and none of them should be dismissed with a "oh don't worry about that" Look up the symbol in the owners manual that you will have got with the car (if you have not got one then look here http://safemanuals.com/user-guide-instructions-owner-manual/VOLKSWAGEN/POLO-_P

You have potentially 2 very serious safety problems with your car and I for one would not drive it or wish to be carried in it.

Why Not Just drive slower unless you using a motorway there is no need to go fast slower speed is good for both your Pocket and the environment and is safer for both you and others
and remember even on a motorway if the Uk 70 is the maximum less in many other place around the world
