I just noticed my Betta fish is extremely bloated.. it looks like he swallowed a cheerio. I only feed my fish once every 2-3 days (he is in a community tank) and he looks extremely happy. His scales are not sticking out like a pine cone, he easily swims to the bottom (not swim bladder), and acts normal except that his stomach is disturbingly huge. All of my other fish are healthy also, so does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong with him? And what action i should take?
I know he isn't a she, because he has mated before with a female betta. He has a long tail, makes bubble nests, and has fertilized eggs with a female betta... so no he is not producing eggs

Wow. Crait, as far as I know, female bettas don't fertilize their own eggs anyway.

I'm guessing he's constipated. Just feed him a boiled, mashed up pea, and he'll be fine. You can actually feed him one every week or two just for good health.

It doesn't necessarily mean you're overfeeding, the betta just got constipated. Just like people do. Doesn't mean you overate if you got constipated.

the obvious answer is overfeeding, but the patern doesnt fit. he could be hogging all of the food or something could have dropped in the tank, like a cherrio!
