Okay...I got this 4 page letter from my kidney doctor in the mail today...and it goes over all the tests I've had done since 1996. LOL here are some of the things I don't really understand...could someone help?

"laboratory data avaliable in the computer dated back to 1996 and reviewed. in 1996 the complete blood count was normal, except for slightly reduce MCV"

Whats MCV?

"subsquent hemoglobin levels were normal until 2003 when it reduced to 11.6 and over the next two years reached a low of 10.2 but then returned to normal. MCV reached a low of 71.2. platelet count also increased in 2001, peaking at 510,000 but did not return to normla. platelet count also increeased in 2003 peaking at 510,000 but did not return to normal"

ct scan back in 2006 showed i hada retention cyst or polyp in the right maxillary sinus...is that bad?

"I would also reconsider bariactric surgery, reduce your weight, restrict your salt and take a low dose ACE inhibitor for the blood pressure," and "i would suggest starting with lisinopril 5 mg daily as the ace inhibitor" -kinda funny...I'm bulimic and he wants me to have gastric bypass. and my bp was only high at that appointment b/c I was super nervous...it's been normal since.

"The baseline creatinine was 1.0 in 2000 and initially ranged from .8-1.0 but since 2006 has ranged from 1.1-1.2. That would estimate a glomerular filtration rate between 60-66 cc/minute/1.73 meters squared"

"A urine protein/creatinine ration would estimate a spillage of 267 mg/ 24 hours (normal less than 150) A 24 hour urine collection produced a total volume of 1800 cc, uncorrected creatinine clearance of 114 cc/minute and contained 396 mg total protein."

"Pelvic ultrasound in 2005 suggested multiple small leiomyomata." whats that?

HELP! probably made lots of typos there...sorry.

Hello, I'm new but maybe I can help ?

The mean corpuscular volume, or MCV, is a measure of the average size of your red blood cell. Mine is always low & the doctor said that's fine.

I too have a retention cyst in one of my sinus cavities, the doctor said it's benign & not to worry about it unless it grows big enough to cause noticable discomfort.

A leiomyomata is a type of fibroid tumor, which is a benign growth of smooth muscle cells along with fibrous tissue from the main body of the uterus.

Thanks so much!

Could the cyst be the cause of some of my headaches? I get the worst sinus headaches!

I knew I had small fibroids but I wasn't formilar with that term.

Maybe if it's big enough ? Have you ever seen an ENT about it ? Mine was found during a CT when I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia, and later seen again on another CT when I was diagnosed with Occipital Neuralgia. I'm just full of neurological abnormalities;)

No I haven't...at the time the CT scan was done...my doctor told me it was normal and said my headaches were just "tension headaches" and did nothing...then when I saw the kidney doctor he went through all my old tests and told me about it.
