Please can somebody help me to improve this ! Please can you Improve the bit about oliver cromwell messing up?

Oliver Cromwell
•Oliver Cromwell was born on April 25, 1599. He was an English military and political leader known best for his role in making England into a republican Commonwealth and for his later role as Lord Protector of England, Scotland and Ireland. He was a middle class farmer for the first forty years of his life. A religious change experience made religion the central fact of his life. As a brilliant soldier he rose from the ranks to command the army. He was described as strong and sharp voiced. He wore dirty clothes but that was probably because of his farming in early life In politics he took control of England, Scotland, and Ireland as Lord Protector, He did this until his death in 1653. Oliver is a much debated person in English history.

he was offered the crown of England, he turned it down with disgust, his son Richard Cromwell succeeded him but was totally unfit to govern.....he was forced to abdicate in the following year and the recall of Charles11 brought back the royalty
Under Cromwell the British navy ...swept first the Dutch and then the Spanish navy from the seas....led by Robert Blake
and made Britain mistress of the seas
He was Lord Protector for 6 years [1653-9]
