Help Me Pick My Next GSM Phone

Having been with Verizon for the last 4 years, I'm very tired of the crappy phones they offer. My contract expires in July, so I'm looking to switch over to T-Mobile or Cingular. Finally I'm able to get a nice phone.

Must look nice and be relatively small (a la LG Chcolate)
Quad band?? (for better tmobile performance)

Those are the basic two requirements. I don't mind if I have to buy it from outside the US, but has to be able to be purchased over the web. Willing to spend maybe 300-400 max.

Give me some suggestions!

Motorola phones are VERY customizable so you might look at a RZR V3i (mem card, mp3 plyr) or an unlocked V635 on Ebay......if you dont mind not having that latest/greatest look at the E398, pretty cool little phone.

BTW Cingulars US phones suck!!!!!! Get an unlocked phone off ebay and you can just slip your SIM card right in, Europe and asia gets all the really cool phones!!!!

Its funny that you want to switch, I just switched from Cingular to Verizon for the LG vx9800 which eats Cingulars non-PDA phones for breakfast!!!!!!

Cingulars service isn't as good either, I get reception now in places I never could b4.......Good Luck

If you buy from Europe or Asia, though, you'll really want to get a quad-band phone to make sure it has the 850 MHz band.

Well, the point of me asking this question is obviously because I want a phone tmobile or cingular don't carry. Definitely looking for something unlocked.

How about a Slvr L7. It's not too expensive but the feature set is also very limited. It'll cost you $200, shipped with a memory card.

A Sony w810i would also fall in your budget range.

Im definately not the one who should tell you what phone to get, but I cant tell you which one not to get. In my experience of buying phones, I have yet to own a LG that was worth a S***. Every time i get my hands on one that looks good and its the phone I want, it gets the worst reception on earth, I dont know how they sell phones. I can recommend the L7, its a good phone. One of the things i like about it is that its heavy, and made with dark medal so if you drop it there Won't be much damage. The iTunes is a cool feature and I have not came across a bad thing about it, but thats just me!
