I just registered on this forum, because I have a general question for people. If there is a thread for this type of question, I didn't see it when I looked for one, so sorry. 
I am looking for songs that carry a lot of meaning for the writer. By this I mean, when you listen to the song, you quickly recognize that the artist was trying to convey a message very close to his or her heart.
A example of this would be "Imagine" by John Lennon. I tried to link to the song, but I haven't made 15 posts so I will just quote the lyrics here.
Another song would be "Where is the love?" by the Black Eyed Peas.
It is clear that the merabers cared about what they sang about more in this song than some of their other songs, like "Pump It" or "My Humps"..
So I am looking for any songs that the writer wrote to communicate a specific idea or principle across to the audience. Some songs are very emotionally deep, or incredibly beautiful, but I'm specifically looking for songs that have a clear statement, most likely made through lyrics or the music video (as in the case with "Wake Me Up When Septeraber EnRAB" by Green Day, where the lyrics did not make the statement that obvious)
So whats your favorite artist? It doesn't matter what the message is, as long as it matters to the artist, even if the band is in the KKK or something. The genre of music doesn't matter either. Thats all. Heres to hoping you'll help me expand my point of view!
