help me in running php with xampp?

hi i am new to php, i have apache tomcat installed it is working fine,
then i installed xampp,
i dono how to use xampp to run php files
and i also dono the procedure i used to install xampp is correct or not.. please help me out please, i need to run php files as i m trying to learn it
