Help me Im buying a used motorcycle and need advice?

This will be my first motorcycle and I dont really know to much about what to look for in a used motorcycle so I dont buy a piece of crap. I am specifically looking at a used 1978 yamaha, with 30,000 miles on it. It looks really nice and the guy says its a solid running bike, But what else should I know to look for as red flags, or any thing else I should know to lookf for or hear for when testing out this bike.
