I recently read a story, and my understanding was that it was called the IBM 1000, but now i cannot find it anywhere not even the authors name. It is about a machine that all the people in the world use to be as smart as they like, and schools are no longer valuable, because the machine can tell you how to spell, and there is no creativity because the machine can tell you how to recreate a masterpiece better than the original. lovers sit there, putting their machines side by side and listening to them spurt out romantic phrases. Philosophers explain to their machines their standpoint then put both side by side to simply listen to their machines have a philosophical debate. Eventually a few people become interested in books the machines told them about, learn to read from syllaberies. Then these people ask for a place where there are no machines and are directed to an island. upon arrival there are peopl swinging from trees, naked and as humans once were. These people take off their clothes and join the treeswingers. Then the treeswingers come and begin to fight over the cast off clothing.
