help: last puzzle in Forest Temple (windmill door)

I can't get those double doors attached to the 4 windmills to open, the one that blocks the chest with the key to the boss in it. I've hit all four individually and all together in any number of orders with the boomerang but it won't open!

Try to make a "Z" with the boomerang

look at the floor - the beaten path shows the pattern that you have to hit with the boomerang. use the z button to lock onto the four towers in the correct order.

ok so now how do I go west out of the forest? can't seem to find anything but hyrule field, and the postman says I can't go west....

You have to get on the horse and jump the fence to go west out of Hyrule field

I tried every different way and then saw the floor

I had some trouble connecting the floor to the pattern to hit the windmills, but thanks to my Wind Waker experience, the multi-targeting with the Boomerang was easy to pick up.

Yeah I was kinda tricked there as well. In Windwaker, whatever you could multi-target would automatically lock on (wouldn't have to hit Z like in TP), but when I found out you could aim the boomerang anywhere I was like
