HELP! im a teen and i need a new camera for photography uses! ?

im looking for something like a nikon D40 (that type) and im not talking like a kodak 7 MP camera that breaks when your drop it (i suppose all do that) but im considering a career in photography and wanting to go to a camp in new york for it this summer
and i need a good camera to do that!
(right now i have a Kodak M673 or 763 somethign like that- in blue. 7MP)
 
whats wrong wit hthe nikon d40?

i have the nikon D60 and it is okay, as a teenage art student i am learning and it happens to be VERY easy to use. this is because it is automatic (as is the D40) and being automatic, you dont have much control over aperture and things like this. everything is done for you. from a student standpoint that can be great but if you want to pusue photography as a proffession you might want more control and should try the D90, since its not as automatic
 
well whatever camera you choose its not going to be much use for hammering in nails is it?

DO NOT buy a Nikon D40. is badge engineering and its a piece of plastic junk.

dont buy anything from china, tiwan or korea, it will break.

the olympus Eseries are very good value for money, the e410 e420 are around 300 quid, and will do everythng you ask of them, for many yrs to come.

buy a good camera, and it will last a lifetime.
 
Nikon D100 is a nice solid camera that can be found for a very good price.
