Help! i need a fentanyl taper schedule!

This is my first time posting here.
I want to reduce the amount of duragesic i am using.
I have been using 125 micrograms per hour for pain management for several years.
I tried dropping down to 75 micrograms, but am having accute withdrawal symptoms.
Is this to big of a reduction?
 
Welcome we are happy to have you on board. How is this medience administered? If it is the patch, be very careful. Withe the patch you should not cut them in pieces, when patch is cut, torn, to much heat it releases large amounts of medication quickly which can be very dangerous. I only know of the Fentanyl Patch, if this medication comes another way I wouldn't know anything about that. If it is the patch, I would advise you to have your doctor help you ween. Please keep us posted.

i was actually posting for my mother. she, herself is an RN and is very knowledgable about the drug itself, EXCEPT the getting off part : ).
The dr who decided to reduce her dose was not the dr who prescribed the medicine.
We finally decided to have her go back up to her regular dose and consult with the prescribing dr regarding reducing the dosage.
I (her son) think that 125 to 75 was too big of a jump.
