I remember the story goes like this :
A black boy was told by his grandfather (maybe) that there's a huge amount of gold coins in a house around their neighborhood. The house is very huge looks like a dilapidated bungalow. The boy went in and befriended the girl but the girl's father (looks like an Italian to me) is a lunatic armed with a shotgun I suppose and has a wild black dog who obeys the master. The girl later on helped the black boy to run away from her father in the house via several hidden holes in the house. And while running away, they went into the hole and the madman instructed his dog to go after them, and the madman accidentally killed his dog when he shot the wall, it was the dog behind the wall). And there's another boy who lives in the building but he's some sort of, a bit crazy? but is a friend of the black kid. But he died.
P.S : I think it's an 80s movie based on the color of the movie. I just know that the actress (the girl) married some nobleman later on.
