help i bashed my knee and there is a sharp pain below the kneecap!?

a few days ago i was with some friends doing "parkour" and i went to spin around a wall and i caught my kneecap on there, i think i hit it just below the kneecap so where the leg is joined together, hurts when i walk on it and any activity, spoke to my dad he reckons i have torn a ligament, this worries me like hell! can someone give me any advice or tips? also im scared of seeing a doctor!
