So here's my dilemma. I have an 8 month old Shiba Inu. He used to live with my girlfriend and we did not have the time to bring him out every day to do his business so we wee wee pad trained him. He'll pee and poop on the pad when he needs to and doesnt do any accidents anywhere else.
Now he lives with me after my girlfriend moved to another apartment that does not allow dogs, and now my family and I have time to bring him out for walks plus we have a backyard for him to do his business. The problem is he's so used to the wee wee pad he doesnt go outside, not even to mark his territory. I've only gotten him to pee and poop in my backyard when i brought a wee wee pad out for him to sniff so he knows it's okay. When he does his business on the pad in the backyard, I pick him up and put him on the floor and praise him so he would know he doesnt need the pad. I crate him and took away the wee wee pad in the house so he could hold it in until i bring him out, but he gets way too distracted to pee on his walks. I've walked him for long runs of an hour, and he still doesnt do his business. Not even with his wee wee pads.
