I am using air dry modeling clay by "Amaco" and made a small sculpture of a woman, but the head just will not stay on. It started to crack and come off as it dried and I tried about 4 different ways to resecure it - added slip between the two parts, then covered the crack with wet clay (the main sculpture was only leather hard at the time) but each time it still came off. I tried using a toothpick for support but that didn't work either. I thought I had it secure this last time and let it dry all the way but it broke off again and part of the neck crumbled. What kind of glue or whatever can I use to make it stay on please?
Thanks - yes it is ruined unfortunately several other peices broke. I think the only problem was not putting enough support under some of the more delicate areas, and I constructed the head separate from the body and then attached it and it must not have been a good attachment (obviously). I gave up and started a new one and I learned from my mistakes, I think this one will look better. I just LOVED the way the face came out on the first one and I'm having trouble replicating it! Oh well, hopefully it won't break this time!
