HEY EVERYONE,
about a month ago i had a 3 level fusion with screws and roRAB and cages. before surgery the only problem that i had was with my back and a slight pain in my left lower part of my leg. now after surgery i have a problem with my right leg feels like im tear my muscle in my thigh everytime i bend my leg or go to get up. now i'm having realy bad pains in my knees ,especially in the right one. i cant sleep sometimes at might because i cant find a good position where it doesnt hurt me.. and now its getting to the point that sometimes it feels it cant hold my wieght , like it wont hold me up gets shakey. and all of the sudden when i move my right leg i feel something in my back where the surgery was and it feels like something rubbing over the area (maybe its a muscle spasm). Please if anyone has gone thru any of this after their surgery please can u give me sopme advice or tips on how wat i can do to stop the pain... I cant take it no more, i never been more depressed bc of i'm 24 and i feel as if i'm in my mid 70s.. thanks for listening n if u offered some advice..hope to hear from someone!!!

i'm sorry to hear it,, I'm 35 and at your age i wouldnt have done this surgery.
i have the exact same pain as you got, drive me nuts,, i have had 2 fusions and a diskectomy,,mine was screwed up from the first diskectomy,, so i had the first fusion and it came apart literally,,, 2 weeks ago i found out the second one has also,, they only give me like a 50/50 of better and worst so i just went in for a nerve burn,,

oh and i'll tell you a secret, when they do surgery they give most ppl tordal its a turbo charged anti inflammatory,, it will make you feel better immediately after surgery and wear off in the coming weeks,,,if you havent been told about it,,, i ask why couldnt i have it all the time and he said it would eat my stomach and liver and kidneys up. so to me the only thing that can help me will definatly kill me,,hummm

i'm in pain constantly and have trouble getting around everyday, wake up so stiff it hurts to breathe and its the arthritis and nerve damage and scar tissue,,,my Blood pressure runs high when i'm in pain, when i went for the nerve burn it was 173/129,,,

anyway i been in a fight to get my disability for the last 3 years(as of 03/09) and the doctor sent in a RFC form andfinally i'm waiting on a decision,,, my best wishes to you and anytime you just need to talk hollar at me,,,

thanks... when i wake up i'm also very stiff that i dread getting out of bed sometimes...i honestly dont know what to do anymore but cry because i feel that i cant do anything by myself, i can barley get up by myself or still to this day hard for me to get dressed by myself... the pain gets worse everyday and all the doctors can tell me that " its probably from when they did the surgery and the relief on my nerves.." i think its all bs.. no one prepared me for this and i dont know what to do no more but pray that this will heal soon.. byt thank you so much for the support.

One month ago is not long AT ALL for the extent of surgery you had, they manipulate the nerve, and that alone causes it to stir up and takes time for it to calm down.

I too am one month post op, a L4-5 fusion with instrumentation, and only now am I doing slightly better, you should notice slight improvements week to week on what you are able to do physically, and how you are sleeping, I had a MEGA flare of nerve pain for 2+ weeks, and LIVED off my cane endlessly.

One month is not long at all, and just give it time for the nerve to calm down and heal.
As for the pains, they should subside little by little over the weeks, and ALSO what you are trying to do during the day is going to make a big impact on how you feel, for that day, and days after if you over do it.

Give yourself some more time, truly.

oh this sounRAB so much like me,,just like me,, i hope it gets better for you, a month isnt a long time, it will take a year before you may notice it getting better, they say it could take up to 18 months to heal, its a hard deal to got through, just try and keep your witts about you,, i know at times i feel like i would be alot better off taking myself out of this pain,, so like i said keep your witts about you and try not to let it mess with your mind. IT will take time, just hang in there and we'll be here for you when you need to talk about your problem. till then do what the doctors told you too:dizzy:

thanks everyone that answered back. i know a month is not a long time, and some days i do feel myself getting back to normal but then there are the days that i feel like i''m a just a couple of days out of surgery. see my surgery was suppose to be only around 5 hours and turned out to be 10 hrs long..the doctor said my bones was so strong that it broke his tools. so i know after that my body defently was goi ng to go thru pain. everyday i go outside and try to walk a little and get fresh air, i go oputside and walk a lil more each day i dont over do it i just walk a lil that i know my bady can handle it. see the funny thing is my back dont hurt that much the only pain that i really feel is in my legs, and it scares me because i never had any real problems with my legs and knees before the surgery, now all the sudden after surgery i got all these new problems and it wories me that i may be like this for the rest of my life and i'm only 24..but i'm just gonna sit back and relax and let my body heal and see wat happens day by day.. once again thank you guys for the suppport.
