Help finding the right amp for my subs?

I was looking at getting a new system for my mustang. I am looking at gettin a JL audio Gmax amplifier. It is a mono amp which I am really not sure what that means. I want to get two 10'' Diamond audio D3 subs and was wondering if this would be a good amp for that. If not How big should the amp be to get the best sound quality.
