Help finding film!

'Spoorloos' is a film about a missing woman, a thriller. It was remade into the awful Vanishing with Jeff Bridges and I really want to see the original again!

My problem is that on IDMB I came up with 'Spoorloos' but I had convinced myself that it was originally called 'The Golden Egg' or something similar to that.

Were there 3 remakes of it? Two good and the last one bad? It's been years since I've seen it so any help thanks! :)
 
As far as I know the one you found on IMDB ( Spoorloos ) is the orignal version and the only remake was the US version in the 90's.

Great film, wouldnt mind seeing it again myself :)
 
I was beginning to think I'd imagined it! Luckily for me, I found Google :o

Great film, the only resemblence the remake had to it was Jeff Bridge's beard!

I never knew the title of the book it was based on. You learn something new every day :)
