i received a telephone call from dr's office and nurse told me that my triglycerides were high and that all other tests were within normal ranges except for one other test that came back high and she would not tell me what it was over the phonel. She told me the doctor wanted to discuss this with me in person - I tried to get her to tell me but she refused. I was asked to come into the office for an appointment and was surprised that i was given an appointment so quickly - 2 days!!!!

I go in tomm morning but i'm so anxious and a bit scared and really need someones help!
What kind of test result would not be discussed except with dr in person.

Any help is appreciated. I should have written down the lab tests ordered, but I do remember they tested:

BMP
TSH
T4
T3
Lipid
CBC
Urinalysis

Thank you!

4skye,

Hello, and welcome to the HealthBoards.. I have had many medical issues throughout the years, and this is a common procedure. Doctor's have to comply with patient confidentiality laws, and that means not discussing your personal information with anyone but you. Receptionists do not qualify to release this information, only your doctor. Needing to come in to see the doctor to explain test results is common, and that in itself should not cause you great concern. It is just to protect you, and the doctor is there to explain your results to you, not just to give bad news.

Try to relax, and go in and find out what your test results say. I hope this helps a little...;)

He probably just wants you to come in so he can give you a script for the high triglycerides. I have that too. And Writeleft is correct in that there are very strict confidentiality rules out there now. Most docs have time put into their schedules for follow-ups with patients so a 2 day response time is not unusual. I wouldn't stress out over it.

Now if he had you come to the office immediately....then I'd stress out a little bit.

gentle hugs...........Jenny

Ok, Triglycerides are high, T3 is low, however, TSH & T4 came back within range. So now I have referrals to see Endo and Gastroenterologist.

I was diagnosed with Pituitary Hypothalamus Axis Shutdown some time ago - glands arenot producing Sex Hormones. Trying to figure out why. If anyone has any clue, I'm all ears.

Thank you! I hope all is enjoying this weekend!

Mine have been high for as long as I can remember. But My good stuff outweighs the bad stuff. Levels off? No treatment necessary.

What meds are given for high triglycerides? Just wondering. Thanks.
