Hey man, I was in the same boat a few years ago. I did Security Forces in the Air Force since I wanted to see the world and get the GI Bill. If you want to be a cop, the military is an excellent choice. You're going to get "Veteran Points" on the written examination (nearly all police depts make you take a test). This means that you'll get +10% (like bonus points) on the test since you're a veteran. Many police departments require college, and an honorable discharge means that they'll waive anywhere from 50% to 100% of the required college credits (9 times out of 10). Also, you'll be a lot older and more disciplined when you get out so you can give school another shot (they pay for it via the GI bill, I get paid to go to school). I hated school in High School too, I struggled to hold up a 2.4 GPA. Now I'm holding down a 4.0 thanks to the discipline the military gave me.
