I was thinking about designing a website where end users would be able to check off certain parameter boxes (such as parts of speech, synonyms, adjectives, etc.) to make a "super-thesaurus" or "super dictionary" of sorts.
Now, because it would take too long, for me to (re)compose all of the material that has circulated from past online dictionaries and thesauri out there, and it seems like that is a waste of time. Therefore, is it possible to use something like a massive dictionary and or thesaurus API, where my website could retrieve data from an external (or internal I guess if they provide the database for it to be local on my site) source, once an end-user enters a specific query? Are there some companies which provide a service like this?
