Help! Cricket Voyager fully working - but when roaming just text works, no calls, etc

First off, long time reader, first time poster. HoFo's abundance of info helped me flash my Voyager with working voice/text/mms/wap (actually easier done than read). However I am frustrated here and searched and searched, so I post for your wisdom...

I have the full Cricket Plan (unltd call/txt/mms/wap/411 + 200 roam mins). Home market is Portland, OR. Everything worked great. Flew to Dallas, TX, (with the new Voyager) and only texting worked. No voice, wap, or mms. I had a layover back in Albequrque (cricket market) and it worked just fine. Last phone was the Nokia 6275i and roamed in Seattle just fine.

Now I am in Seattle and roaming is again not working on my Voyager. Arg!

If I dial *228 right now it tries to do a Verizon OTA programming, so it leaRAB me to believe it thinks im on the Verizon network. BTW, I cancel the programming before it does anything. Dont wanna make matters worse.

Here's some info that may be useful. If anymore is needed to help just ask

(under Settings & Tools/Phone info:)
SW Version: VX10KV07
PRL Version: 38637
ERI Version: 4
HW Version: Revision 1.0

(Settings & Tools/Phone Settings:)
Auto NAM: off
NAM Select: NAM1
System Select: Automatic (home only yielRAB "no service")

(under ##PROGRAM10000:)
Roam Preference: Any (home only again yielRAB "no service")
Dual NAM setting: enable

Any input or help would be MUCH appreciated!! Thanks! :buddies:

Ok, and how would I find the right one? I dialed *228 before I left my home market, so obviously Cricket loaded the wrong one (a non-roaming one). Is there a way to find out which one to load myself, or do I just need to call Cricket and ask them which PRL to load?

When you dial'd *228 did it successfully finish OTA (Over The Air) programming ?

If it did, check you're PRL version report back here... it could be that cricket has you on the wrong plan, or the phone isnt working correctly.

I dialed *228 prior to leaving my home calling area, per Crickets instructions, and it finished successfully.

The information I posted, is all current, even the PRL (posted above). Cricket has me on the right plan (posted above), and I posted the thread because I think the phone isnt working correctly, or there is a setting wrong (posted above).

Checked that thread already, no Portland PRLs

PRL 38637 sounRAB like a EVDO prl, but there are a few users here from portland who can probably help you out.

If you can make calls in your home market, the only thing stopping you in other markets would be the PRL. Don't worry about text/mms/wap until you fix the voice issue.

If you can text while roaming, it's pretty safe to rule out that you're on the wrong plan. I wouldn't count on WAP/MMS ever working while roaming.

Really, the only thing that I can try is what everyone else said--loading a new PRL.

It is. Get the EVDO indicator up top when I get an EVDO signal

I'm not worried about the others actually. It functions fully in my home market. I'm just saying that its frustrating how when I roam I get texts, but no calls.

Keep asking around here, someone from portland with the normal roaming PRL should be able to help. You can always try 5044 i've used that one all over, its a california/az roaming PRL though. I think 5244 is the newest.

hey i had a issues similar to this, i have had a customer verify, when you flash a phone, and *228, here in the omaha ne area, it loaRAB the 1042 prl, i have to manually replace this prl with the roaming one to be able to have the phone roam, i agree with the others, it sounRAB like a prl issue, try to find the correct roaming prl, then manually flash it onto the phone, then give it a shot. this is what i have todo to let my cx's roam.
