Help clear up me and BFs Father Ted joke argument.

Before anyone says, yes I do have too much time on my hanRAB. :D

Me and BF have been arguing over the joke from the Father Ted episode Grant unto Him Eternal Rest about Jack going of with Sister Imelda "The Blue Nun".

I always took that as a double entendre, alluding to the fact that Jack and the Sister got up to stuff at the wedding, hence the "blue". I did get the wine reference.

But BF thinks in the context, that doesn't make sense. They are discussing how drunk Jack is, and he reckons it just refers to the nun on the bottle, who he reckons is called Sister Imelda. He thinks the sexual pun doesn't make sense, and that they are just referring to Jack getting sh|tfaced on wine.

I'm a bit worried he's right though, because he is a bona fide genius, and I'm, well, not. :)

So, how did you take that joke? If you think BF was right, don't hesitate to say! :)

I don't recall the episode, but my inclination is to side with the BF on this one. I also like the suggestion that Jack made the bottle disappear into an orifice, but that's ludicrous :p

Hmm see without your imput I would have just taken it as a reference to the drink. But now you mention the sexual reference I think it could have both meanings. Hadn't thought of it that way before. I think you have a good point.

Nah, you're all barking up the wrong creek.

Blue Nun is rhyming slang for currant bun, which is slang for The Sun, which always has a page three girl who failed an audition for the show Sister Act.....................which is all about Nuns.

Yeah, that's about right.

A blue nun is definitely a naughty female cleric, with a nod to the wine as well. Jack wins both ways.
