Help Choosing Correct Cam

So, I've been spending a ton of time on the forum recently, reading about everyone's opinion on cam upgrades as well as Fuel Moto's recent testing on a new cam. I'm saving up and hope to do a cam swap maybe yet this fall or sometime this winter. With all the different configurations and brands, which would you recommend for a 2008 RK with BUB 7 True Duals and high flow air cleaner? The roads that I ride are your typical Wisconsin country roads and here in SW WI, that means a lot of curves, hills, etc. I do a little interstate riding every now and then, but not much. Just looking for a little more boost. I don't envision any other engine upgrades. I've been looking at the Woods TW6-6, TW-555, SE 255, and the S&S 551 EZ Start Cam.

I'm new to the cam thing and am just trying to figure out which would be best. I'm looking to you guys to help me out.

Thanks in advance.

I've got the same bike with the same stage 1 except thinking of changing the Rush 2.0 to Rinehart TD.
I've got my mind set on HQ500 but my tuner is suggesting the Andrews 26. He hasnt changed my mind...........yet!

I can't speak highly enough of the HQ500 cam, it's a very good product runs hard from idle to wide open, makes good torque, sounds great and it cost less than a lot of those designer cams.

Just beware that with a cam change the ticking sound in the motor will get alot louder than with stock cams. You will like the extra power but can you put up with the loud ticking from a more agressive cam? I did cams ( a couple different times) on my Fat Bob and the extra valve train noise drove me nuts. I'm not saying don't do it, I'm just letting you know what it may be like. I wished some one would have told me this before I had mine done.

If you figure out which one is "best", I'd love to know.

If you're having someone build your motor, you're paying for his expertise. Listen to his advice, he's probably built more motors than 95% of the guys that are going to respond to your thread, including me

There are lots of good cams. I presume that you read the thread from Fuel Moto regarding the testing of the Woods 6 and 555 cams. There's some good info posted throughout that thread, it's worth reading all the way through if you haven't already.

If you're not planning head work, or increasing compression, you're limited to bolt in cams. There's lots of good running bikes out there with cams like the Woods 6, S&S 510, Crane 310, SE204, Andrews 26, Andrews 37, SE255 and Headquarters 500. I'd put any one of those into a stock 96 and be happy with the results.

But I doubt there is a "best" cam. Best for your riding style is the best you can hope for.
