How do you determine what size road bike to get? I'm a bit confused on the sizes. I'm 5'8" about 130 pounds and female if this makes a difference.

thanks.

A bike shop will fit you for the proper size. Take your inseam x .65 to get close the the correct size. There are other factors in a proper bike fitting but you start off with the correct frame. Get a bike made for a woman they will have a shorter saddle to handle bar distance, a little wider seat, and narrower handlebars. Road bikes are measured in cm so multiply the measurement x 2.54 to convert inches to cm.

you can raise or lower the seat of your bike rather easily so the size of your bike shouldn't matter terribly much. Also, unless you wear skirts, get a men's bike. They are more stable (the way the bars are attached, it's just a better angle, I can't explain). The only reason the bar is lower on a women's bike is so skirts don't ride up.
