The car is a 1992 Toyota Tercel 1.5 liter 4Cyl Automatic!

When i start my car the engine starts fine and idles fine....but after driving for about 25 to 30 minutes the engine will shut off when im at a stop or light...then it starts to chug and or jerk when i accelerate from the stop and it wont speed up and most of the time the engine just shuts off...but when i turn it back on it will accelerate fine till i slow down again!.....sometimes i can push the gas when driving and the engine wont make a noise/wont rev.......so i know its a engine problem...not transmission....HELP...HELP>>>

I changed the distributor Cap and rotor and wires three months ago.
I replaced the Fuel filter yesterday!
I changed and replace filters and fluid to the transmission and oil a week ago!

Yet nothing seems to fix the problem......could it be a vacuum or a sensor?...i am no mechanic...so any suggestions are appreciated!....HELP!....

It has on board diagnostic, but you'll need to look in Chilton's or some good auto repair manual to see how to activate it to blink the trouble code. Usually you short a couple of terminals in the diagnostic port under the hood-easy- then watch the check engine light blink a pattern that means what the trouble is.

If you never replaced the cam belt it might have slipped off time. Check the ignition timing and if it's wrong, the cambelt has slipped. Do not change the ignition timing, but do have the cambelt replaced to restore valve and ignition timing to what it's supposed to be.

If the ignition timing is OK, the OBD1 trouble code should point you toward a solution.
