help!!! att data plans

hi, i have a sony erisson w580. i just had it for less than a week. One night i decide to explore around the phone. I went online without know att's data charge of $0.01/kb. when i check my balance for my phone a couple days later, they had charged me $180 for using the internet. I had saw that there was unlimited data plans for att, but would it work for a regular phone like the w580 since all i had read so far is for iphone, blackberry, pdas. Could i add on a unlimited data plan rite now so i could just pay the price of the plan of the data plan instead of the $180 dollars? does these data plan have a contract.

I would be very glad to receive a response. I do not know of the rate that att charges at, if i could i would had argued that i did not know and asked for a data plan. This is a big mistake for me, i would not be using mobile internet ever again. I just like to get this month's phone bill down. Please respond Thanks
 
You can purchase a MEdia Net package for any phone capable of using it. You should create an online account so that you will not be surprised by your bill. If you purchase an unlimited MEdia Net package as soon as possible, Customer Service might be willing to give you credit for half your data charges. You should have been calling Customer Service rather than posting a message here and waiting for a response.
