Well, I had 2 comet goldfish, Caeser and Lynn, both 3 and a half years of age. Today, Lynn died unexpectedly. After we buried her, Caeser was not the same. He just sits on the bottom of the tank, and hardly swims at all. Before, both fish were extremely active. The only things different are Lynn's death- I think Caeser understands, the change of food, we just switched brands, not formulas or anything, and Caeser and Lynn both had a sort of white fuzz my mom thinks is ick, or another disease. Please help! Do my fish have a sickness? Did it kill Lynn? Is Caesar suffering? Old age? I need answers!
My dad did say that they could live around 20 years, so we did not think it was old age. Thank you guys for being so helpful! :)

Absolutely not old age. Goldfish can live over 25 years and should grow over a foot long.

Odds are Lynn was more susceptible and now Caesar is also failing.

White fuzz is not ich. More likely it is a fungal or bacterial infection. You need to research both, compare results to your fish, and then treat if needed. It wouldn't hurt to also have your aquarium water tested and perform a partial water change.
