I've successfully installed Android 2.2 (via manual update) but does anyone how to actually move the apps to SD card?

When I installed task kill manager it says I have 250M available...with 2.2 I thought we're supposed to have 8GB (SDcard) space available

Sorry If this is a dumb question, but I just bought my Nexus One 4 days ago..I've been an iPhone user for the last 2 years! But yes ANDROID ROCKS!

Plus apps like Seesmic not going for me

Don't confuse internal storage with your SD card. Internal storage is/was used to store Apps and run programs. External storage is used to store most of your files on (pictures, MP3s, etc), plus apps if you use apps2sd.

When you check how much memory you have free (Menu -> Settings -> SD card & phone storage, you'll see how much SD card storage you have, and if you scroll down how much Internal phone storage you have left.

Task Killer apps will always show your internal storage.

Apps that don't work on 2.2 will likely be updated by their developers very soon.

So what has this got to do with a factory reset like you mentioned in the post title?

Actually this brings up a question for me, i know how to check available internal storage, but is there a way to check total internal storage??

You mean how much your phone has in total? Wikipedia?

You can get at that information via an app (there's an API call for it), but I don't know of any way in the menus.

Not unless there was some re-partitioning going on (that would result in a full wipe). OTA updates wouldn't do this as it would annoy too many people.

Perhaps this information came from the fact that with Apps2SD that comes with 2.2 you will/can have more free internal storage?

wait am i confusing freed up ram with internal storage? (i'm still half asleep right now)

they changed the ram not the storage, what should the new ram be?

Total RAM will be the same (it's limited by your hardware), but 2.2 may well use less of it.

Free RAM - I get that info from Advanced Task Manager.

The weird thing is, it always seems to be 10MB more than the free internal storage. So maybe it's the same thing?

Before 2.2 was released there were rumors swirling all over the place as to what features would be introduced. i too thought i heard more internal ram aside from apps to sd card. Kind of a bummer that lighted trackball colos was not included

The trackball colours are included... kind of...

The author of Missed Call tweeted that he'd got it working on 2.2.

The bottom line is that it only works when the screen is off (so no preview of LED colours), and any blink rate under 500ms doesn't work (it turns it off).

Hi guys first time posting here but i manuely installed 2.2 os on my nexus one and install the app.Handcent sms and i can change the color of the trackball and also make it blink the colors provide on the app.and yes the trackball does change colors on the nexus one and its not the led.

What was released wasn't even a beta, it was an alpha release candidate with quite a few problems. Since google sold the N1, it will be first phone to get the actual 2.2 when it's ready. Others will follow on there own time table.

Android 2.2 was released for the Nexus One in beta, and some people have installed that beta version. A select few have also received it over the air.

This is very different from:

a) Being finished and released to the general public.

b) Being ported and released for other hardware (i.e. the Droid).

c) Being modified/customised by your network provider.

Google have said the Droid will get 2.2. You just have to wait a few more weeks, certainly before the end of 2010.
