help and advice sought with my throat problem

This is my first posting on this site and I hope that someone can help me. I am desperate to find out what is 'going on in my throat'.

I have recently had a recurrance of a problem which first happened to me about three years ago. Very simply, it feels that I have a lump in my throat. The feeling is the same as when you swallow a headache tablet, and it does not go down. It makes me permanently want to have a drink of water. This helps for a minute or so but then the feeling returns.

I have also noticed that my saliva is thicker than it should be. It has the same consistency as the saliva that you get when you are thirsty and have not drunk had enough liquid.

It is really starting to get me down. It is obviously worrying, but is more to the point uncomfortable. I can tell that my grumpy mood is starting to have an affect on my wife and small children. Can someone help me, or at least tell me if this is common? I am a forty year old male, and I keep fit.

The only other thing that I have noticed is that I am producing quite a lot of wind, at both ends so to speak. I do not know id this has any significance?

Please help....:(

I am not a doctor of course...but it sounds like maybe you have acid reflux. It can make you feel like you can't swallow all the gunk down. I felt like my throat was smaller and tighter. It was scary. But after being on prilosec it went away. I still get it from time to time. See your doctor and try not to worry. Good luck!

Exactly, I have acid reflux and when my reflux gets really bad I have the same symptoms feeling as If I can't swallow and I get paranoid because of it. I will advice Martin to seek a gastroentorologist and talk to them about it.
