Why have I so much water retention after my back operation, I am getting huge, please help me

Hello and welcome to the board,

We will need a few more details if anyone is to be able to answer your question. When was your surgery? What medications are you on? Chances are quite good that one of your pain medications is causing the swelling.

Hi, thank you for your reply, I had my operation 7 months ago, the swelling started 2 months after the operation and it just does not go away, I am on no medication at the moment and have not been for 3 months. I had no feeling in the left leg after the op. but this is coming bck slowly. I have tried various herbal remedies, kelp, dandelion but nothing help with the swelling, and weight gain, I walk everyday for a mile, even though it is painful and the ankle swells up more, any suggestion on what to do, thanks you

Have you followed up with your surgeon about this? Can you be more specific about your swelling. It is isolated to one leg, where, and/or is it all over?

What type of fusion was done? Meaning, was titanium roRAB with screws used, or was bone used instead. Most often these days, the metal is used, but it would help to know that.

Also do you know if they used BMP for your fusion surgery?

Other than the swelling are you painfree?

Hi, thank you for your reply. Yes i have followed up with my surgeon and he informed me it should go away with time, however I have not been back to him. Yes I have 4 titanum roRAB in my back, my operation was 9hours as they had to turn my last 6 vertibra that had totally twisted. I am in pain but I beleive it is all the pain killer, sleeping tabs etc that might have caused this. I weighed 115lb before op, but now I am 152lb, and it feels like soemone is just pumping me up...not a nice feeling at all... I have lots off water retension in my left leg, but is is all over. I eat only organic food and walk everyday, but I am desperate for some help. Any suggestion will be a great help. Thank you for caring
