help a newbie in unlocking iphone

i dont know how to flash an iphone pls explain how all versions of iphones can be flashed,updated with my downloaded firmware and the softwares required,after flashing all versions of iphones do they get locked? i also dont understand what is meant by activation sim like one sim,activated simcard, iphone being activated by itunes,i also dont understand what is meant by saving shsh blob,how it is done and of what benefit it is?thanks all for ur answers
 
To Update Firmware it only uses iTunes there is no third party SW that can update FW, Of course it will Locked if iPhone is Network Lock, you need SHSH Blobs so you can Update Firmware on 3GS, iPod 2G & 3G to lower version because iTune Server only allow these phone to update to its Latest Version. One SIm is use for Activating iPhone but if you have the Original SIm it doesnt need One SIM. Activated iPhone is the one you can use function like Camera, Games & Application. And you need need Activated iPhone because some Jailbreak SW need is in that Mode not Emergency Mode.
