Helmet to sport bike passenger seat?

So this may be really random, but I've got an R6, and the 'passenger' seat has hooks on the underside, which I assume is for my helmet? But I can't exactly figure out how to use it like this?
I'd like to ride places and just be able to stash my helmet with my bike and not have to carry it around everywhere. Any help?
