Go Mom!!! I'm glad help is on the way!

Take it easy, Billy Boy, and don't fall into the trap most of us have at one time or another during our recoveries of overdoing it when the pain lets up for a while. Just rest and walk for now and let your family pamper you.

Hope you feel better soon with some better meRAB in you.

Emily

Yes, that's one drawback of the Percocet. They can't call it in. Every time I needed a refill, they were happy to give it to me, but I would have to send someone to go pick up the written prescription for me.

It was worth it, just a nuisance.

Emily

It's fine to still be on the walker and barely moving! I only walked for about 10 minutes at a time for the first week or so, and that was pushing it! Just do what you're able to tolerate. Add a minute or two each day as you're able, or more or less according to your pain that day. You'll learn as you go how far you can push yourself before you need to lie down again. And once you lie down, figure on staying there for a while. Like you found out, the getting up and down from lying down is the hardest part!

Hang in there. It gets easier!

peppa - - hello pep i am going to my doc. today at 1 pm , i think i am getting my staples removed. This can be a check up , but i am pretty sure they are coming out !! I will let you all no when I get back from the office , I am in bad shape today - lots of pain and discomfort..

Looks like marlosmom is doing GREAT I am very very happy for her , how are you doing peppa ? I hope all is good and i will talk with you soon,

BILLY BOY

isn't that hydrocodone /morphine mix tablet ? I heard of it but never took it.
Hope it works buddy :(

Hey Billy Boy,

Good luck with the doctor today and hopefully you will fill better after you get the staples out. Did they finally get your medication worked out for you?
Let us know what you find out at the doctor's office. Have you been able to get some rest?

Take care and Gentle hugs
Linda

Hey Billy Boy you sure did have a BIG surgery and that is all the pain medication that doctor gave you? I don't understand doctors any more. What all did they give you while in the hospital? I know you will be doing a lot of resting after you get better medication and that is what you should be doing.

As always you are in my prayers and I offer best wishes to you for a speedy and pain free recovery.

Gentle Hugs,

Linda

I am glad everything went well.
You are absolutely right: i don't know how did they sent you home with 5 mg? This is a dose which does not help me 2 month after the surgery, but right after??? Gosh, I just had my app with PM DR yesterday as you know i go to HSS in NYC. He changed me from 2 pills every 4 hours of Percocet (10/325 each) to Long Release Morphine: 8 am and 8 pm (15 mg) and brake through Oxycodone (15mg) every 4 hours as needed. And i am 2 month after surgery.
You should call your DR and talk to him. If he can't help you ask if PM can manage your meRAB.
Best of luck on your recovery.

If you are having problems with your meRAB, don't hesitate to contact your doctor and explain the problems you are haivng with it. They are used to receiving this calls all the time from post op patients.

Keep on healing -- you are doing great!!

Hello Billy ~

Sorry to hear you are still in so much pain. Don't worry about what others were doing after their surgeries. :nono: Just concentrate on yourself. You need to find some relief from the pain you're in. I hope the doc has responded to you by now.

Don't sit up and try to write back. We're all here thinking about you, sending our very best wishes. There will be plenty of time when you're feeling better to sit at the computer.

Sending lots of prayers and good thoughts your way...

xx MM:)M

Hello, and welcome back, Billy...I agree with the others about your pain control. If the pain medication(s) are not working, please contact your doctor immediately. Please continue to post, whenever you feel like it!

While i was in the hosp. they had me on dilaudid , but i was receiving it threw an I V pump.. Billy, you sure are showing us your strong side...Going through all of this pain, without proper pain relief, and then having to go through the terrible side effects of the new medication(s). I wonder if you could ask your doctor about Phenergan (spelling?)...I had to take this, along with the morphine at the hospital (intensive care), whenever I had a "mild heart attack" in March of 2007. After they gave me a hearty shot of morphine, I began to feel as if someone had kicked me in the chest, which later caused severe nausea. As soon as they put the phenergan in the IV, the nausea and severe pain went away! I pray that you feel better soon and pray that you will receive something for your nausea and dizziness...Sincerely, Tam

Hey Billy ~

I can't help you there. I've never taken that med. I was sent home from the hospital with oxycodone and Lyrica, and then hydrocodone and skelaxin to take as needed.

If you're having problems with that med, call the doc. They are used to getting calls!! I suppose your mom just went to get this med, so of course you want it to work!

Hang in there, Billy. Things will be getting better soon.

Blessings,
xx MM:cool:M

Please do not post new questions or your own questions in an existing post. Please start a new post instead so that it draws direct attention to your new question.

Oh Billy Boy that is terrible! I am so sorry you were sent home with such little medication and I pray that your Mom was able to pick up your medication and you are being properly medicated now. ((((HUGS)))) and prayers. Do yourself a favor and just take your meRAB and sleep as much as you can for the next few days. I agree with Emily set your timer or have a family meraber be in charge of making sure you take you meRAB on time for this week.

Sending the pain control angels your way.:angel::angel:

Hello Billy ~

Welcome back! I guess all our pages and pages of questions and answers didn't prepare you quite for the pain you're in. Everyone else has given you good advice. I took Emily's advice when I had my surgery 6 weeks ago, and took my prescribed meRAB on time. My son made a chart for me so we could keep track of what I took when, and that was a big help.

Call the doctor tomorrow and tell him you're not getting enough relief.

Rest, sleep, nap, and walk when you get up to go to the bathroom. Repeat this schedule until you're feeling a little better. Please post when you can.
We've missed you!!

xx MM:cool:M
