Hi I am brand new here. I just purchased a set of 16" ape hangers for my 08 c 50.I was wondering if I could get some advice on installation.I havent bought all the longer cables yet, I was wondering also if you can get wire extensions instead of havin to replace the whole wire?Just curious....Thanks

Have you ever ridden a bike with ape's before?
Many times it produces strain on your shoulders and upper back and makes the handling "strange".

My advice would be "Don't do it" but since we seem to be past that point........

Be sure you have ALL the parts (cables) on hand and eyeballed up for fit BEFORE you take anything apart.

Electrical wires can be extended by splicing; control cables can NOT.

Just want to show you what everybody see's

For install you will probably need a second pair of hands. Yes, you can extend the wires but make sure you solder them as opposed to using connectors. Also get appropriate sized heat shrink tube, usually a good elec. supply house will have the longer sections instead of the little 6" you get anywhere else. I have no personal experience with them but I know a few that have 16" and really like them. I would think that handling would be a problem though.

The sad part is last Sunday the wifey and I were out and saw a bike with ape hangers as tall as that. I mean, I have seen pictures. But that was the first time I have seen them in person. It looks more ridiculous in person than it does in the pictures. I should have taken a picture with my camera phone.

:welcomes: to the forum, as far as ape hangers go im not to familar with installation, you could ask the people at a local bike shop they could probrably give you some good advice, as far as handling goes it is something you have to get used to so be careful, I drove a bike with a set of them and I really didn't care for them. They may look good on your bike if they are not to high and if you extend the rake it would look good.

My wife can never seem to remember the name - "ape hangers". For some reason, anytime we see a bike with them she says "look - they have MONKEY BARS".

I'm just glad she says it to me and the person on the bike with the ape hangers.
