Its an excellent film, while not the first feature live action and animation (Song of the South did it decades before) its still ground breaking for many different reasons.
You'll never see Bugs and Mickey next to each other again. It was tricky enough to pull it off for this. Both characters have the exact same number of lines and screen time so one was not seen to be given preferential treatment.
And theres the classic "Is that a rabbit in your coat or are you just pleased to see me?"
And who could forget the writing on the toilet wall:
"For a good time, call Alison Wonderland"

Is there a special edition DVD?
I have a documentary somewhere on video tape about the making of the film. What was really interesting was all the weird and wonderful mechanical devices that were used to manipulate the real objects that Roger and the ather cartoon characters handled - like little mechinical robots.
There was also a great story: The actors had to have someone to relate to while filming, as the cartoon characters were not added until a lot later. So a guy dressed up in a really bad rabbit suit and read Roger's lines. Some guys from a rival studio saw this and reported back to their boss "you know, this rabbit film isn't going to be very good!"

Yes there is a CE 2-disc DVD - laden with extras, including shots of Charlie "Roger Rabbit" Fleichser dressed up as the eponymous character on set.
