I bought my first Ducati today. Unfortunately I don't pick it up till next weekend. A nice 2008 1098. Wanted to join a forum where I could learn a bit about my new machine.

It will be sleeping in my garage next to an Aprilia RS250 that I race every now and then in the south east CCS. I've only been racing the past few years and missed having a street bike. I've never owned a Duc so I figured I'd give it a try.

Any input for a new Duc owner would be appreciated. I've heard they are high maintenance. Nothing is high maintenance compared to my 250 two stroke. I work on it about four times as much as I ride it.

Welcome!

I don't think you will find your 1098 high maintance. They may be a little more than a Jap. inline four, but not that much. Just keep an eye on her, and she will be fine.

Enjoy!

Congrats! And Welcome

Texas Boy is right, she will be just fine with routine check-ups

Your gonna love that 1098 for sure!

Ride Safe

Also a 1098 owner..a 1098s, no problems other than the occasional re-call items. Weather restrictions, now thats a problem, always needing to re-fuel thats a problem. But bike runs like a screamin ape!!! Enjoy

Thanks all. I'm looking forward to learning about my new addition. I understand that the valves need the most looking after. I'm sure I'll be doing quite alot of searching around these forums.

Congrats!!! You are gonna love that bike like nothing else!! You will find alot of usefull information on this forum, and alot of good entertainment as well!! If you put her on the track, you have to share some pics.
