I have a new pain in my right heel. It is very very sharp and really painful. It happens intermittently, not regularly, as in after sitting or whatever. Worst is driving. It doesn't really feel like it's from my foot or plantar fascitis, but I'm not sure. I've got nerve pain in my leg as well, so I'm betting it's coming from the nerve root from my previous herniation/discectomy. Does this sound familiar to anyone? It's not the bottom of the heel, but actually the very back, almost touching the ground, below the achilles tendon.

Thank you! That was really sweet. I'm stumped. I am icing the heel in case it's plantar fasciitis. Will see if it helps.

No problem! So many on here have helped me and i am very appreciative of this! I hope the icing helps!

I have this problem bad. The pain is also in bottom of my foot and into 2nd toe. I got a cortisone injection in my heel that helped settle those nerves down but it still acts up when my back is acting up. I also bought this ankle/heel wrap that has snap in ice packs called ActiveWrap for like $36.

absolutely "could be" -
but, may be something else alltogether:confused:

Each of the spinal nerves provides sensation to a predictable area of skin - a GREAT educational tool I have used through the years is a "Dermatone Chart" - you can find tons of illustrated ones on the internet - the chart can show you what pain can
show up where on the body etc...

just fyi

Yeah, I know it could be, or could not be my back. I too, have foot pain and toe pain, usually the outer area of my foot and pinky toe. The s1 nerve innervates the heel, so I guess it could be the back. Just not sure right now. I might call my pain clinic and talk to the nurse about it. If it's my back, there's nothing we can do anyway, but if it's pf, then I can work on getting that healed up.
