Heating cooked chicken in a microwave?

The 'serving suggestion' on the box says to heat the chicken 45-60 seconds in a 1000 watt microwave. I have no clue how many watts my microwave is, but I only put the chicken in for 20 seconds and ate it. It was the kind of chicken that comes already cooked, and many people could put it on salads. Should I have done that? I only ask because my mother was spilling some harmful bacteria information.

Chances are the chicken that was packaged like that was cooked already and perfectly fine to eat like that, and you shouldn't have any problems.

Most home microwaves sold are from 600- 1200 watts. This is a measurement of how much power is used while cooking. For future reference., it should be listed somewhere on your oven by either a sticker or a Stamp on the bottom. If you have a 800 watt oven and the package says to use a 1000 watt, that means that you may need to go just a bit longer on your cooking time. instead of cooking for 1 min. you might have to cook for 1 1/2 min. .
