Heathcliff is coming back to the screen

Heh, most people tend to use the spelling "Catillac Cats", because that actually has been the official spelling since the early 90s, or whenever it was DiC put out that "Cats & Company" VHS tape.

They changed it from "Cadillac Cats" (which is what was used in the model sheets, storyboards, and original Heathcliff tapes) to "Catillac Cats" because they got cold feet again about the Cadillac car coming after them for using their copyrighted name.

As for who should voice Heathcliff. Well, since Billy West really cannot recreate any voice done by Mel Blanc, then I'd strongly suggest someone else who can. Blanc's voice for Heathcliff was really Bugs Bunny, but with a more street-tough persona. Maybe Joe Alaskey could recreate it, or possibly Frank Welker.

Huh. Well, I hope any Heathcliff movie isn't made a la the Garfield movie - by which I mean, mixing a CGI animal with real animals and humans. And what I mean by that is, while the CGI Garfield worked pretty well - the character's design has just enough believably feline features to look convincing as a real-world-type cat - Heathcliff doesn't have that advantage. He has tiny eyes and a huge black nose. He isn't what I'd call "cute". I'm trying to imagine him animated Garfield-style and my reaction is "ecccchhh".

No, actually it's "Catillac". In fact, I'm not even sure the show was ever billed as "Cadillac", as every source I search for lists the show as "Catillac".

Hm. I didn't think of that until just recently, but I guess they wouldn't go by the name 'Cadillac" since it would've looked like they were plugging the popular car.

The thing is, I never knew their cartoons were called The Catillac Cats until I came here; I always assumed that it was titled Cats & Company because that's what it was billed as in the show's closing credits. IIRC, there was a version of the closing them song which called it Cats & Co. in the lyrics as well.

However, regardless of what they're called, I doubt they'll be turning up in this movie, unless DiC is somehow involved.

Noel Blanc actually did fill in for his dad for one episode of "Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats". It was for "Meow Meow Island".

I wouldn't mind seeing a new Catillacs project--as long as it was done the right way. This Heathcliff movie already sounds pretty bad. While the link to the original article has already gone down, it seems that the people behind the movie only care about making a quick buck. If it ever gets made, expect lots of pop culture references and fart jokes.
