Heathcliff is coming back to the screen

You know it's going to be bad when they actually claim they want to do something along the lines of Alvin and the Chipmunks or Garfield: The Movie. Not exactly good inspirations...
"We've got to have... MOONEEY!!! >D".

My prediction: People are automatically going to hate this just because it's going to be live action and CG. I'm not a CGI hater, mind you, but for once I have to agree with them. I don't see why a new Heathcliff project had to be done in the manner of Alvin and the Chipmunks or the Garfield movies when there are so many better projects that this new project could have been modeled after. The statement that

to me just screams "We're only doing it for the MONEY!"

Maybe they could go for the format of the comic strip and comic book and make Heathcliff silent and have his actions speak for him.

From the article, it sounds like they have multiple plans for him including a CGI/live action type Garfield movie. I could do without one of those since I didn't really care for the Garfield movies and thought Alvin was just so-so.

Oh no! Well...

Yeah, pretty much seeing as how all the other 'remade toon' things seem to go. I grew up with the 80s toon Heathcliff! I loved him more than Garfield in every way and darn Garfield was always more popular.

I don't really want to see him made into a live-action-CGI thing. (Which people would most likely put off as "stupid Garfield clone", of course.)

Why can't they just make the entire cartoon series on dvd instead of just some of it and let that re-sell it? *sigh*

Oh well. Nothing you can do. :(

LOL-modern audiences change.

I am wondering are the Catillac Cats going to appear in this movie? They were a big part of the cartoon show.

It's Cadillac Cats. And since DiC has nothing to do with this venture, I wouldn't count on it. The Cadillac Cats were created by Jean Chalopin and Bruno Bianchi; those characters can't be used if DiC isn't involved.
