Heath steps back from Bond role (was it ever available to him?)

Glad to see that Heath removed himself from the race of new Bond. It would have been a stylistic conflict as great as Stallone in an acting part. That Heath fairs well in something swashbuckling, but would look like Crocodile Dundee in a suit. Anyway, his accent was atrocious in Four Feathers. and his acting credentials are yet to be proved

We need a new kid on the block

I would love to see Jackman in the role. He is darkly menacing as Wolverine in X-men, which sits well with Bond's apparent chronic inability to stay out of trouble. He was particularly good at acting a fluid, sustained piece of violence. Where reason was redundant, replaced with a murderous glint in his eye. Not many actors can do it; most look camp when attempting such a feat

In general, the next Bond should be hardened, not so charismatic. He should reflect the personality that teeters on the edge of complete implosion. I thought Pierce was promoting that hardness; projecting that type of awareness. It would be terrible if the next debutante reverts back to Moore's arch brow irony. We would lose much that was appealing in Brosnan's role

Ted?

But I assume you mean Ledger.

Can't say I've seen him in anything, but if he's apparently excused himself from the role it's unlikely there was ever a chance it would be his. He's too young looking, as is Christian Bale. Bond is supposed to be a seasoned secret service man, with a considerable history - not resembling a raw recruit.(some of the knowledge given to the character can't just be taught , but also comes from experience - knowing fine wines like the back of his hand for example.)

My name is ledger, Heath ledger

Christian Bale is a wiry ol' sort with the type of presence that inspires belief, and credibility. He could take Bond and turn him into something a little bit dangerous; off the cuff. Which would be exciting, though Bale captured the Superman role that Kutcher refused to do (for fear of typecasting), so I can't see him hot footing it from one type of superhero to another.

Bond has to remain removed from the progress of time. Otherwise, the studio will be opting for a timeline that would soon put Bond into a rocket propelled zimmer frame. No, it is okay that the concept can leap frog, and not be saddled with linearity.

Anyhow, I am not sure that an encyclopedic knowledge of wine will be useful to a modern day bond. He is almost secondary to the gadgets that aid him. And one of those gadgets could fulfil the job of knowing anything and everything. His energies could be directed at playing more low key work, not blowing up doors in an effort to find the unexploded bomb (yawn), but stealth work that would have him infiltrate criminal organisations with all the skill of his nous

Of course, the 'wham bam thankyou Spielberg' generation of cinema goers, are not quite ready to say good bye to the outlandish set pieces that have become a motif of the Bond franchise.

I always thought that Colin Farrel (prob spelt that wrong) Would be well suited to the Bond role, I mean his got the looks, somewhat similar to sean connery, he could probably pull off the gentleman act, and the womanising one...it'll never happen and I dunno whether his been brought up before..then again he'd prob kill off the franchise too...well hopefully *innocent whistel* :D

Erm... Christian Bale is the new Bruce Wayne/Batman... not Clark Kent/Superman...
