Heart Problems?

I'm not too sure what this is but ever since i was about 9, my heart has been acting up and just recently it's gotten worse. Whenever i jump or do something simple like that, my heart starts beating very fast. I mean REALLY fast. Then, it just suddenly stops. Today when i was walking to class, my heart started hurting a lot too, each step made me feel pain in my chest. I'm not one to cause problems, but i just told my mom about all this today because it never really bothered me. So now she says shes going to take me to the doctor. Does anyone know what this is?? I'm really worried...

Yeah dunno what I can tell you to make you feel better...I mean I have had some heart problems before but my doctor attributed it to being "natural." I guess maybe this could be what my doctor described but I'd still get it checked; it's different for everybody.

It's hard to tell what the problem could be, without training and an in person check-up. Go see the doctor. It could be something simple, but chronic. Even if it's something more serious, having it checked now will let you know what needs to be done to rid yourself of the pain and discomfort.

:hug2: Repth. I hope you get to feeling better.

Sounds like some sort of Tachycardia. I had Supraventricular Tachycardia, (an extra AV node in my left ventrical). It is something you should definately get checked out. I too noticed the problem initially when I was about nine and in the third grade. I was put on calcium blockers, but when I got in high school it was just not controlled by the meds anymore. I had a radio-ablation procedure which is minimally invasive; using catheters--one with a microwave probe on the end to burn out the extra node.

I couldn't take in caffine or stimulants of any kind, as it would trigger it. Do you notice any correlation in the onset of your symptoms and your daily caffine intake? In my case it was normally triggered after an adrenaline rush or if I ran and stopped quickly, but as I got older it would just happen spontaneously.

What you are experiencing could be TOTALLY different, but it just seemed familiar. I am not a doctor so don't take my word for it--go get it checked out!

Ok, i am not an expert on this sort of stuff, and I am sure no one else on this thing is, but I used to work in a hospital and the people that I saw in there that I used to transfer from post-op had the same sort of symptoms.
Just go check it out with a doctor, it can't hurt.

My advice is wait until you see the doctor, there are many reasons that you may be having those symptoms and many of which are probably not to do with you heart, for instance high amount of Caffine in your diet causes some of the same symptoms. What im trying to say is your problem may not be heart related and even if it is there are plenty of treatment out there. Im pretty sure you're not going to die anytime soon.

Try not to worry about it, you're in good hands.

well i feel a bit better now... As long as i know I'm not going to just wake up and die, or not wake up at all.

Appointment is said to be sometime next week. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated.

I dont have a caffeine intake pretty much at all. i dont drink pop, coffee, or energy daily or even weekly. i dont drink, smoke, or do any drugs unlike a couple of my friends. I even have a pretty good diet, I'm 15, weigh 140 ish and am 5'11. Maybe its genetics?

I am not going to try and minimize your "Heart Problems", but at 15 you have all kinds of hornymones raging through your body. I would go to the doc and get an EKG, and if they see something of concern they will do a stress test, and you can go from there. It will ease your mind to know what is actually going on. I wouldn't look for medics on WTF :) Good luck

What the FUCK!? You should be seeing a doctor fucking A S A P not next week. March up to your mother and tell her that you need to see the doctor NOW because a week's delay for what may be a heart problem may make the difference between something easily treatable and something that'll leave you handicapped for the rest of your life.
