Heart palpitations when pressure on calf

Hello,

The past few weeks I've been have heart palpitations when I lay down and have any pressure on my leg (calf area). It's weird I know, but when I put any pressure on it this happens. I also experience pain in the calf area but none in my chest or heart. I recently was tested (MRI) for a blood clot and DVT but the tests show no sign of blood clot. Can anyone suggest what this might be? My heart doctor is puzzled by it and suggests that it is muscle related. I also have palpitations during the course of the day even when there is no pressure on my leg, but it's much worse when there's pressure on it. Some of the palpitations are pretty intense too. Why would putting pressure on my calf create heart palpitations? I have Lyme disease but can't imagine how that would have anything to do with it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Is your cardiologist also an electrophysiologist? This type of doctor specializes in heart rhythms. The palpatations are usually caused by an interruption in the electrical system in your heart. If your cardiologist is not, than maybe he/she should refer you to this type of doctor. I have been experiencing heart palpations for the last three years ever since I started taking tamoxafin. Are you taking any medications? I was on tamoxafin for nine months before my symptoms began.

Your cardiologist can also order a 30 day holter monitoring study. There are two types, the first type is you carry around a beeper type monitor and every time your feel something that you place it on your chest and push a button and the machine will record your heart. You than call a special number and transmit your reading. The second type if a monitor that you wear all the time.

I was given medication to help with my palpations, they also can do a procedure to try and locate the bad circuit within your heart and correct it.

I hope this helps-let me know how you do.

Thanks for your response to my question. I do not know if my heart doctor is a electrophysiologist. On my next appointment I will ask him about it. I am taking doxy for Lyme disease. One of the rare side effects is heart palpitations but that still doesn't explain why when I put pressure on my calf it would cause this to happen. I also cannot find any answers as to why my calf hurts either. Although, dvt and blood clot has been ruled out, everything I read regarding my symptoms points in that direction. I'm sure the ultra sound and mri of my leg can't be wrong, so it must be something else. Hopefully my heart doctor will have some suggestions for me during my next visit. Thanks again for your response, I appreciate it.
