Heart attack symptoms?

I have been thinking about making a thread on this forum for days, (I'm new here.) and since it has finally reached the breaking point, I need some opinions from people besides my family.

Well, about 2 weeks ago, my mom had left for a trip to Seattle, WA. (We live in PA, her other kids live in WA.)

During her trip, I unexpectedly got pain in my back. Not severe at all, but definantly enough to take notice.

Next day, I start getting chest pain, with it radiating into my left shoulder. My dad gives me a Motrin, and we go to bed, and wait to see how it is in the morning. Now I have both back and chest pain.

Next day comes. I still have the pain. Having looked this up on the internet, I get in my mind I may be having: a heart attack. I ask my dad to take me to my family doctor. (For those who know what I am talking about, this was before his daughter died, so yes, he was still sane.)

I am tested with all the stuff, and he says everything seems 100% normal.

Next day, I am still unconvinced, as I still have the pain. I start to panic.

Fast forward to the day when my mom returns, she assures me everything is fine. But I am still unconvinced.

The next day, my mom gets back, but I STILL have the pain, now joined by something much more frightening: it was ever so slightly harder to breathe. Not much, though. The doc calls (the one I saw), and tells us to go to the hospital just to make sure everything is ok. He said they could do more tests there.

So I get tested, and everything is 100% a ok, as the hospital said. They said I have as much chance of having a heart attack at my age as anyone does by getting struck by lightening.

But, of course, I STILL have the "symptoms", as I call them.

So we make an appointment with the local cartiologist (sp?). I do all the tests he says to do, even wearing this heart monitor for 24 hours and doing the stress test, and still another says everything is normal!

Now tonight, I just racked up another problem: my heart feels as if it is skipping beats more than normal.

So now I come to you for opinions. Looking it up more, I see that I have the top symptoms for heart attack. I have been panicing every night, and I just can't live with all the fear and stress. Yes, I may be a hardhead, but I just can't shrug off all of these things, all of them pointing to a problem.

i wouldn't just shrug this off either since pain is how our body simply tells us that something just isn't 'right' somewhere. since everything appears to be okay in the cardiac area, the next likely spot would be to go to the back, the spine area? obtaining an MRI of your C and upper T spines would be a really good idea. this pain is coming from somewhere, you simply have to track it back to its "source'. this would just be the most likely after ruling out the possible cardiac involvement, and i think you can safely say at this point that it has been fully tested and ruled out?

just see your primary again and ask for that MRI to be done, with contrast. you simply need to know what is causing this pain. are you having any other symptoms besides what you already mentioned here? just exactly what does your pain feel like? is it constant or does it come and go? any pain or tingling in either arm or hand? or in your neck area?just get a good in depth look at those areas of the spine. these would be the areas that would affect where your pain is at. the shoulder/rotator cuff area could also be involved here too depending upon what does or does not show up in an MRI. these are all just the most "likely' areas to look at once cardiac involvement has been ruled out. just how old ARE you? Eric,

As I read through your post, I started noticing a pattern of sorts. This is just my opinion, and you can take from it what you will, but I think what has happened/is happening is that you probably pulled some muscles, without realizing it (very easy to do... even a sneeze can do this) and because you were not sure what it was, you have been slowly giving yourself anxiety attacks.

All of the symptoms you have described (after the initial pain started) are textbook symptoms of a panic attack. Shortness of breath, heart palps, tightening of the chest, and a constant state of worry. I know you are convinced that something is wrong with your heart, but all of the tests that you've had, show that everything is OK. My poor husband had this same problem on more than one occasion, and was even taken from work to the hospital by ambulance, twice. Each time, all of his tests were normal and yet he was convinced that the tests were wrong.

He has since started therapy and has medication for anxiety, and he hasn't had a problem in over 3 years. I'm sure you can get this all sorted out. The more you worry, the more "symptoms" you will have (and more frequently, too) Take care and let us know how you're doing.

I did get tingling in the arms, and a little bit of a fast heart rate. I also got pain in the neck, jaw, and it comes and goes. I have also felt mildly light headed at times. (wheather these occurred because I was woried, I don't know)

So what should I do? And I am 13.

Could these be drawn out warning signs that the tests couldn't pick up?

Check the symptoms for stress and/or panic attacks. You are quite young for heart problems but I would have done the same thing cause you never know.
Are you under any kind of stress? Feel better, Linda
