Hello I hope you folks can help me I go to play a game on my T2 and I get a heap memory warning and the game shuts down. The warning states that I dont have enough free memory I looked at my memory and I have over 16000 free It states I should shut off all hacks. Sorry I dont know how to shut off the hacks could someone please tell me how to. Thanks for all your help.

Tom

You must have a hack manager; go in to that manager (YAHM, TealMaster, whatever) and uncheck the boxes. If there aren't any, then get Tealmaster from Tealpoint (best hack manager!)
www.tealpoint.com and that's when things get tricky - you'll have to disable all hacks BEFORE installing it, then register it, then "turn them all on." Hacks are like little "switch on-off patches" into your system; they can be turned off or on at will providing you have the right "Manager."

TealMaster allows you to have different profiles, where you can AUTOMATICALLY disengage all hacks when you activate your game.

TealMover, on the other hand, allows you to BOOST the amount of memory requested by an application to avoid this, also. Using both would certainly solve your problem - that's why I'm a huge Teal guy.

Same thing happened to me sometimes. I used to open BugMe Notepad 5.2 and it would say there was not enough heap memory. All I hade to do is a soft reset and the problem was fixed you should try doing that or go to the extreme and do a hard reset.:)

the heap memory is a problem on the T. It seems that its not the amount so much as the large free block. Some apps seem to release heap when they are closed down but heap seem to be 'fragmented' I get that error message only when I have less than ~500K in a single block (even though I have 800K free in total). I must admit that I find the need to soft resst very irritating and this problem will probably stop me buying BugMe 5.2 even though I like it a lot...

Anyone from ElectricPocket listening??

wrt the bugme/heap framnetation problem. I have contacted the developer and they are trying to track the problem down. If I hear anything, Ill post the reply here...stay tuned;)

If I am not mistaken, this memory problem was an issue on the TT. The TT encounters memory errors if a certain number of files have been saved on the device. PalmOne has a patch available to correct the problem. You can get it from their web site in the support section.

I remeber, its the old 345 file problem. I dont think this is the problem in this particular case and I dont get the error generally associated with that specific fault. It just seems to be due to fragmented heap and bugme seems to want more than ~400K of heap to launch....Ill keep investigating..

Here is the reply from Iain at Pocketcity
regarding the BugMe heap problem

'Hi Steve,
I'm afraid the Tungsten T is very heap constrained, and we have tried all we can to reduce heap usage, including extra Tungsten-T-only steps! I'll look to see if we can defreg the heap when we start up, but other than that I'm not aware of not aware of any more steps we can take...
Sorry,
Iain'

So stay tuned all T users, maybe a kludge can be found...great customer service from these guys!!!
