Hi, i'm wondering if anyone could help with my problem and sorry if this is not the correct forum for posting this.

I am having major discomfort in my stomach area. It's hard to explain but it's more of a really strong ache than a hurting pain.

Some points:
- According to my parents its happened over the course of the last 3 years at significant parts of my life (e.g. the first time i went on a plane, when i moved out and when i started driving). They put it down to stress triggering it.

- The aches are so annoying and can become really strong making me feel sick.

- Eating makes the ache go away, if only for several hours, however i am now eating more than i usually do because it's the only thing that really works.

- Going to the toilet can also help.

- I first got it around 3 years a go, this is the 3rd period in the 3 years it's happened, it usually goes for months and then come back.

- Doctors say there is nothing wrong with me

- Doctors gave me 'fibo-gel' orange drinks and was told for take them for 2 weeks. I started taking them last year for about a week and it went away, so i stopped and it came back, so i started taking them again for 2 weeks straight then it went away for good.. until now. I have started taking the fibo gel again twice a day for around a week now and it's showing no signs of leaving me alone.

- I suffer from heartburn and can get that quite bad, so i do think my stomach produces a lot of acid.

- I sometimes get heart burn when i've got the aches.

- My diet is not the best and generally contains fatty food or fooRAB that a not really good for me. Is there a type of food i should be eating more of in this situation? (ie. something lighter on the stomach?) At this point i would happily cut all food out that would not help.

I am just sick of living with it now and have been the doctors twice they say i'm ok. i do have another appointment but i'm also looking for other advice. The fibogel may work again in a couple of days but how long will it be before it starts again?

Any ideas?

I believe you are on to something when you say that your diet contains fatty fooRAB that are not good for you. I think that's the key to your problem. The cells in your body will not function correctly if given too much fat or the wrong kind of fat.

Saturated fat or trans fat is the worst. We do need some saturated fat but very little. If you eat meat it should be lean meat and no more than about 3 to 4 ounces per meal. However, the "bad" fats can be in processed fooRAB too. So read the nutrition label before you buy anything.

Good fats come from things like olive oil, canola oil, walnut oil, walnuts and avocados.

In general, you should cut out processed fooRAB as much as possible and eat plenty of whole fooRAB like fruits and vegetables, and possibly some whole grains in limited amounts, like plain oatmeal.

Good luck.

Your story is very similar to mine, the bad ache, full feeling right at the top middle of my stomache, eating making it go away etc. I was misdianosed with acid reflux by one doc, then diagnosed correctly with a peptic ulcer by an internal med doc. He was extremely good, asked me questions, where it hurt, how it felt, and diagnosed me within minutes. I was put on prilosec twice a day, and I had to go to a bland diet, but it worked wonders right away. I can tell by the timing of when you have the problem that it is stress induced, your stomach produces more acid when you are under stress, this is when my problem came on also. I think this may help you, the prilosec and bland diet, right away. Look up ulcer diet to see what you should stay away from ( oatmeal helped me immensely, with milk and fake sugar in it ), and you could try the prilosec, you can get it over the counter. It is supposed to be very good for acid reflux. Do not take any pepto when you have a stomach ache, I had to stay away from it completely, along with certain fooRAB that aggravated it. But it did go away completely, then only comes back a little if I am under stress. I hope this helps.

Even though your doctor does not give a name to your health problem, that does not mean it is not a real issue. I have also had a long history of digestive problems. The pain could be anywhere from my throat to my intestines, and sometimes I would get heartburn as well.

Stress can very definitely trigger your stomach pains. All emotions trigger a physical response in your body, and negative emotions can cause or aggravate an existing health problem.

If you already are aware of this tendency to experience stress which then coincides with stomach pain or heartburn it would be very helpful to pay close attention to your diet during this time. You may have certain "trigger" fooRAB which make the problem even worse.

Living a healthy lifestyle could help you experience less stomach pain and less stress. A healthy lifestyle is more than just eliminating fried and other unhealthy fooRAB. It involves a healthy diet, sufficient exercise and physical activity, nutritional supplements when needed, and a positive mental attitude (that will really help with the stress!)

I would advise against relying on pharmaceutical drugs to treat your digestive issues for several reasons. First, they will not cure the problem - they just treat the symptoms. Also, if you don't make the necessary lifestyle changes and just mask the symptoms with drugs you are setting your body up for even more problems later in life.

It sounRAB like you are ready to make a change to your diet, which is a great first step to taking charge of your health. Certainly you should eliminate all fried fooRAB from your diet. The next step would be to examine the rest of your diet for fooRAB that trigger your stomach pain. Keep a daily journal for a while, keeping track of three things - what you eat, how you feel mentally (happy, sad) and how you feel physically. This will show you what triggers your pain so you can make changes.

My advise is to eat lean protein, good fats, raw vegetables and complex carbohydrates. With your current stomach pain, however, the raw vegetables may cause you some discomfort. It would be better to cook them a little in some broth, to make a homemade soup. This would be easier on your stomach. It is better to make this kind of soup yourself, rather than eat canned soup, because canned soup can have monosodium glutamate and too much sodium.

Introduce new fooRAB slowly to make sure they don't upset your stomach. Awareness of what you eat, how you feel and the physical consequences it causes is your best bet for eliminating your digestive issues and living a healthier life every day.

Best of luck to you!

Great advise, however I have heard a lot of conflicting information regarding canola oil. I have read that it can cause a variety of health problems. Since there are many other good sources of fat that have no conflicting reports, I find it best to avoid canola oil and use the other sources instead!

Forcer, please see an internal med. doc. Your symptoms do sound like it may be an ulcer. Diet alone may not help. My pain got so bad I ended up in the ER, where the doc there misdiagnosed me with acid reflux. He told me to follow up with my regular doc the next week. Luckily, I went to an internal med. doc who recognized what I had right away. Obviously, if your docs treatment is not working, you are probably misdiagnosed also. You may need the meRAB and diet change to take care of it completely. The bad ache, and feeling better after you eat are signs of an ulcer. Please see an internal med doc if you can so you are not suffering.
