Health and pregnancy issues aside, do you prefer to use a condom or not?

Obviously they are there for contraceptive purposes and to prevent the spread of STDs. But even if that was not so, would you still prefer to use a condom to avoid the mess caused by semen? Or do you prefer/enjoy to have the direct contact with it?
Just a topic discussed by my girlfriends tonight and I was wondering what other women, or indeed men, felt?
