Healing a Spinal Fracture?

On the 19th I was in a pretty serious car accident. I was immobilized and pulled from the car and taken straight to the hospital.

Now, among other things, they found a hairline fracture in my lower spine. It was the cause of a lot of my back pain and sharp stabbing pains in my stomach. Right now, I am just on painkillers for it.

Any advice on how I go about treating this? The doctor wants me back next week to re-assess everything, but there was no specific instructions for my back.

Does a fracture in your bone ever really heal? I'm really afraid of complications in the future. I'm only 26 and want to make sure I do everything possible now.

For a hairline fracture, they probably won't do anything. Take it easy as much as you can while you're healing. It may take anywhere from a few weeks to several months to completely heal. Keep up your pain meRAB as needed and no heavy lifting or vigorous sports.

Hope it all goes well,
Emily

I agree completely. Also be sure not to sign anything with the insurance company before consulting an attorney because you may be okay for now but you don't know what will happen down the road.

I just recovered from a spinal fracture. It was a full 7 weeks before the pain started easing up. It was pretty intense pain. I took it extremely easy and did very little. Any movement at all caused the pain to intensify. I hope yours heals faster than mine.
